This comprehensive surgical skills course will teach basic and advanced shoulder procedures, highlighting pearls to avoid complications and ensure clinical success. The all-star faculty will teach current clinical algorithms, backed by peer-reviewed publications, and demonstrate cutting-edge surgical techniques. Controversies of treatment will also be emphasized to help guide treatment decisions. This will be accomplished through lectures and surgical demonstrations by leading faculty, hands-on cadaveric surgical labs, and panel discussions with case presentations. This course is designed for both the casual and advanced arthroscopist, including a pre-course questionnaire to best pair instructors to participants ensuring their goals of the course will be satisfied.

Learning Objectives

1) Comprehend the fundamentals of shoulder arthroscopy, including surgical options for rotator cuff tears and shoulder instability.
2) Discuss controversies in the field of shoulder surgery, including grafts and patches for rotator cuff repair, superior capsular reconstruction, and bone block procedures for shoulder instability.
3) Improved surgical skills of shoulder arthroscopy, specifically in treating massive rotator cuff tears, instability with bone loss, and what to do in the setting of failed previous surgery.

The primary target audience for Advanced Knee Lab Course is AANA members and other healthcare professionals who desire to improve their arthroscopic knowledge, competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

AANA has determined the need for this live educational activity based on identifying professional practice gaps, previous course evaluations and the AANA Self-Assessment Examination. The educational content of this activity was based upon current issues and topics provided by AANA Planning Committees and Membership.

The Arthroscopy Association of North America is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Arthroscopy Association of North America designates this live activity for a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity may also help fulfill the Maintenance of Certification credit requirements mandated by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Please fly into O'Hare International Airport. A shuttle to the Hampton Inn and Suites picks up every 45 minutes from the Bus/Shuttle Center. Follow the signs from baggage claim.
