AANA Comprehensive Advanced Knee Arthroscopy Lab Course highlights (click to change video):

This comprehensive surgical skills course will focus on current controversies in knee meniscus, ligament, patellofemoral and articular cartilage-related injuries and procedures.  This course will have a special emphasis on advanced meniscus repair and transplantation techniques.  An all-star faculty will guide attendees through discussions on the latest clinical algorithms, backed by peer-reviewed publications, and cutting-edge surgical techniques.  We will debate different perspectives on controversial topics by distinct expert faculty members, have hands-on cadaveric surgical labs, participate in case-based panel discussions and give pearls on how to avoid complications and ensure clinical success.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  1. Understand current advanced meniscus repair and transplantation strategies and techniques including controversial decision-making on when to repair or restore the meniscus.
  2. Determine the appropriate indications and technique for patellofemoral procedures including MPFL, tubercle osteotomy, and trochleoplasty.
  3. Comprehend current controversies in primary and revision intra- and extra-articular ligament reconstruction including contemporary surgical techniques.
  4. Formulate appropriate treatment algorithms in the management of articular cartilage defects and pathology as well as to learn the latest surgical technique options available to address these problems.

The primary target audience for Advanced Knee Lab Course is AANA members and other healthcare professionals who desire to improve their arthroscopic knowledge, competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

AANA has determined the need for this live educational activity based on identifying professional practice gaps, previous course evaluations and the AANA Self-Assessment Examination. The educational content of this activity was based upon current issues and topics provided by AANA Planning Committees and Membership.

The Arthroscopy Association of North America is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Arthroscopy Association of North America designates this live activity for a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity may also help fulfill the Maintenance of Certification credit requirements mandated by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Please fly into O'Hare International Airport. A shuttle to the Hampton Inn and Suites picks up every 45 minutes from the Bus/Shuttle Center. Follow the signs from baggage claim.
